Cookie policy

Information about website storage technologies, display preferences, and the distinction between the website, the Craftbase application, and external services.

Last updated: 13 September 2026

1.Controller and scope

This policy describes storage technologies on the public website craftbase.de. The controller is Craftbase GmbH, Schorndorfer Straße 137, 71638 Ludwigsburg, Germany. Privacy enquiries may be sent to the general support address.

The application at app.craftbase.de, mobile applications, and linked external services are separate usage contexts. Their access and storage technologies are distinct from a visit to the public website. The Privacy Policy explains purposes, legal bases, recipients, deletion, and your rights in relation to personal data.

2.Cookies and similar technologies

Cookies are information that a service stores or accesses on a device through the browser. They can enable sessions or remember settings. Session cookies are usually removed at the end of the browser session; persistent cookies have a specified lifetime.

Local Storage keeps values in the browser without automatic expiry. Session Storage is generally tied to the relevant page session. Other technologies include IndexedDB, pixels, device identifiers, and comparable access to device information. This explanation does not mean the website uses every technology listed.

4.Current use on the website

The public website currently activates no optional analytics or marketing trackers. No cookie banner or consent-management platform is integrated; the website therefore currently offers no consent selection for such trackers.

The theme entry described below is used for your selected display mode. Technically necessary connection and access data processed for hosting is distinct from storage in the browser. The Privacy Policy explains that processing.

Optional usage analytics, such as Google Analytics, is distinct from this current storage use. Choosing a display mode is not consent to analytics or advertising. The Privacy Policy provides information about optional analytics.

5.Inventory: display preference in Local Storage

The footer's Appearance control lets you select a light, dark, or system-based view. A changed selection is stored in the browser and considered on later visits. Without a saved selection, the website generally follows your system's display mode.

The stored value contains no individual user identifier. It serves the selected display mode and is not sent by the theme control to a third party as analytics or advertising data.

Display preference

Provider
Craftbase GmbH; storage by the browser on the device being used.
Technology
Local Storage; not an HTTP cookie.
Key
theme
Values
light, dark, system
Purpose
Remembering and applying the display mode chosen by the user.
Activation
An existing saved selection is read on page access. Changing the selection through the appearance control writes the chosen value.
Retention
The entry has no automatic expiry. It remains until the selection is changed or the entry is removed through browser settings; the browser may also clear stored data itself.
Recipients
Craftbase's display code reads the value in the browser. The entry is not used as an analytics identifier or for advertising.
Transfer
The theme control does not send the saved value to a third party. General hosting connections are a separate matter.
Category
Display preference for the selected view; not an analytics or marketing function. The legal-classification section explains the conditions for device access without consent.

6.Distinction from the Craftbase application

Registration and sign-in take place at app.craftbase.de. Processing for a user account does not automatically occur when visiting the public website. A link to the application is not an embedded sign-in.

The application uses Firebase Auth for authentication. Depending on platform, session, and the chosen authentication configuration, cookies or other local storage mechanisms may be needed for sign-in, access protection, and session management. Their scope and duration are not the same as the public website's theme entry.

Sign-in does not automatically permit optional analytics, advertising, or session recordings. Consent-dependent features must take account of the relevant web or mobile context and consent granted or withdrawn there. Processing customer data on their behalf is also governed by the DPA.

8.Changing display mode, removing storage, and withdrawing consent

You can change your display preference at any time through the footer's Appearance control. System is also a stored selection, not a deletion command. To remove the entry, use your browser's website-data or storage settings for craftbase.de.

After removal, the next visit generally uses your system's display mode. Deleting or blocking the preference does not prevent access to website content. If browser storage is blocked, the selection may not persist across visits.

In other usage contexts, removing sign-in or session data may require you to sign in again. Clearing browser data is not the same as cancelling a subscription or deleting a Craftbase account.

Where consent has been given for optional functions, withdrawal is possible for the future and must be as easy as giving consent. Clearing local data alone does not automatically withdraw consent from the relevant service. Previously lawful processing is unaffected; the Privacy Policy explains data rights.

9.Updates and further information

This policy is updated when the storage technologies and functions actually used change. The date at the beginning indicates the information's revision, not an effective date for a new contractual version.

Using consent-dependent services requires the necessary information and consent. Publishing an updated policy alone neither enables a function nor replaces consent. The Privacy Policy provides information about personal data and contact routes.
